Kenny Macaskill leaves policing on the islands in good nick!

A full complement of staff and officers applying to move families and settle here to work was the message given by Chief Inspector Gordon Macleod at Environment and Protective Services meeting at the Western Isles Council last week.

With an economy so fragile, the news that the Western Isles is a target career destination for police officers is high praise indeed to the superb  work Police Scotland have done in ensuring areas on the periphery are well supported.

SNP councillor Gordon Murray stated: "It really is fantastic to hear our local police force doing so well and leading the way. Police Scotland had received a lot of criticism from labour activists but this is testament to the tremendous work the police have done with the crime rate at a 40 year low and locally, officers and families queuing up to live and work here. Praise must also be given to Kenny Macaskill who made such a positive impact for the islands during his term as Justice minister."
