First Supplementary question to convenor

Representations have been made to me that this (every child having equal opportunity) is not the case and that some of the old school estate, such as Laxdale and Stornoway Primaries, are unable to offer equity of provision despite an underspend of £3.8 million according to information received by myself from the finance department.

In Laxdale school, for example, facilities in terms of sport are still a major issue - sports such as netball, uni hoc and football can't be played safely due to lack of space. The lack of suitable practice space can clearly be seen when Laxdale competes against schools with appropriate facilities.

During the recent PIEs and PIMs testing, according to Laxdale parents, numerous problems were encountered with school laptops causing pupils to struggle to perform to the best of their abilities.

Would he agree with me that these issues are not acceptable whilst we have a £3.8 million underspend and will he endeavour to give these pupils equity in provision by addressing these issues by next term and would agree to meet with relevant parent councils?

Convenor refused to answer.
