The world has been shocked by the images of children being washed-up on the shores of Europe while trying to flee war and persecution in their own homelands.
We fully support the First Minister for Scotland and the Scottish Parliament in their determination to offer sanctuary to those in desperate need. We feel certain that every local authority in the land will be considering how it can aid our country in meeting our fair share of responsibility and we are committed to supporting our own local authority in openly considering the level of aid and sanctuary which the people of the Outer Hebrides and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar can offer.
