Bus passengers are reporting difficulties in booking
bus services linking Ullapool to Glasgow up to a week in advance and Isles MP
Angus MacNeil is now calling on the operator to put on additional buses.
Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MP Angus MacNeil has received
reports from constituents about recent booking issues on the coach network
which provides vital links for ferry passengers travelling from Stornoway.
Services from Ullapool to Glasgow this Friday and
Saturday morning and some services in the afternoon were already showing up as
FULL early this week. The first service from Glasgow returning to Ullapool next
Monday and Tuesday are also showing as FULL.
Mr MacNeil said: “I have received complaints from
people in my constituency who are having difficulty booking peak services
particularly on Friday and Saturdays. Bus operators have been urging passengers
to book services but surely a week in advance is enough time for additional
capacity to be arranged with extra buses. Instead passengers are being told to
keep checking for cancellations.
“I am writing to Citylink to urge them to put on
additional services to ensure the service is able to meet the demand.”
