I write to you in your capacity as chair of the transportation and infrastructure committee.
You will be aware of the recent bus service redesign which was agreed by the Comhairle on the assurance that no person who relies on an evening bus service would be left in the lurch and have their employment put at risk.
The SNP group recently embarked on a consultation with the public and a major employer in Stornoway whose employees expressed concern at the cut in service. We were able to compile a number of employees and which service they used in getting home from work. This has been passed to the department.
May I ask what consultations the Comhairle have engaged in and what discussions have taken place with Community Transport to ensure these assurances are met.
