Red labour for YES - Blue labour for NO

ONLY WAY TO SECURE MORE POWERS IS WITH A YES VOTE

The SNP is taking encouragement from a dramatic poll indicating that a quarter of Labour voters now plan to back Yes in the independence referendum.

This week’s Survation poll in the Daily Record - showing the highest level of support for Yes since last summer - highlighted that a quarter of those who voted for Labour in the 2011 Scottish Parliamentary election are now planning to vote Yes in the referendum.

This came the day after Bob Holman, an English born Labour Party member for over 50 years, explained in The Guardian why he will be voting Yes. The experienced and respected Glaswegian anti-poverty campaigner backs the policies put forward in Scotland’s Future to build a fairer and more socially just Scotland.

Mr Holman is part of a growing trend of Labour voters moving to Yes.

Glasgow SNP MSP Humza Yousaf has also said that the Labour leadership’s commitment to the Tory funded anti-independence campaign is causing the party irreparable damage and expects more Labour voters to follow.

Mr Yousaf said:

“As last week’s Survation poll shows, a quarter of Labour voters across the country have already said that they will vote Yes - and more will follow.

“The Survation Poll must serve as a caution to Johann Lamont that Labour’s pact with the Tories and its self-styled Project Fear campaign is a major turn off to Labour voters.

“Bob Holman has explained that the only way to work towards social justice is with the welfare and job-creating powers of an independent Scotland.

“His conversion to Yes is terrific and sets a great example for hundreds of thousands of Labour voters across Scotland.

“People in Scotland are realising that the No camp have no guarantees of further powers – and that the only way to get them is to vote Yes.

“Perhaps Labour’s anti-independence leaders were hoping to turn people off from the independence debate altogether - but instead their negative campaign is serving to drive people within their own ranks towards a Yes vote.
