Letter to council leader on crofting

Dear Roddie,

I am writing to you to inform you know that we have concerns with Item 11 on the agenda.

As council leader, you submit Items for consideration by the Councillors to adopt as political policy or, if councillors so wish, those aforementioned items can be amended or rejected or replaced with another proposal through the democratic process.

The Comhairle met on 3rd March 2020 and agreed that pre-requested information had to be provided before Councillors could develop a policy on this issue.

It was noted that you were not present at Comhairle on the 3rd March 2020 which may explain the disparity between Item 11 and the information requirements agreed by Comhairle. The information requirements agreed at Comhairle on 3rd March 2020 is Comhairle policy. Comhairle Policy must be complied with. The information provision requirement set out in the Comhairle of 3rd March 2020 establishes the information that you, as political leader, must provide to Councillors so that they can consider the formulation of policy on this issue.

Therefore until that time where you, as council leader, provide the information required by Comhairle on 3rd March 2020, any Item that you put forward on this issue, without the requested information, is not competent.

It must therefore be concluded that Item 11 which you propose for the 6th May 2020 must be not competent and should be withdrawn from consideration by Councillors,

Best wishes,
Gordon
