Scottish government budget addresses the Westminster attacks on the most vulnerable

Na h-Eileanan an Iar SNP MSP, Alasdair Allan, welcomed the Scottish Government budget published yesterday,

which shows determination to combat the worst effects of Westminster’s cuts, including those suffered by some of the most vulnerable families in the Western Isles.

Dr Allan pointed to the further action that Scotland could take with the powers of an independent country.

The move comes as a UN Special Rapporteur called for the UK government to abolish the bedroom tax. The SNP are the only party that has committed to scrapping the Bedroom Tax once an independent Scotland has the legal power over benefits.

The budget also saw £190 million allocated over two years to increase early learning and childcare to 600 hours – saving people £700 per family.

A massive £8 billion will be invested in infrastructure.
