Comhairle Transport Disconnect

Travel through the Comhairle nan Eileen Siar, local government area, is now more "cost-effective" when routed through Glasgow.

That is the finding of an investigation into what was described as a 'serious accusation" that public officials were indeed already travelling via Glasgow as the most efficient route between Stornoway and Castlebay.

As the fall-out from the ill-considered council dismantling of the inter-island air service continues, Donald Manford commented:  Having failed to understand the impact of their action on Patient Travel and News Paper Delivery including a number of other services, this council appears incapable or disinterested in respecting the needs of the entire Western Isles.
